title: Introduction
description: Welcome to the Futrou hosting documentation.
---

Futrou is a cloud hosting platform for running applications, static sites, and APIs without managing your own servers. Push a Docker image and Futrou runs it — sizing compute, scaling it under load, and exposing it to the internet — alongside DNS, routing, and the team and billing tools a growing project needs. It's built to take you from a single container to a production setup with custom domains, autoscaling, and teammates, without switching platforms along the way.

This documentation covers the three services you'll use most:

- **[Serverlets](/docs/serverlet/)** — your compute. A serverlet runs a container image on resources you choose, and can scale up or down automatically based on load.
- **[DNS](/docs/dns/)** — manage DNS zones and records for your domains, hosted on Futrou's nameservers.
- **[Proxy](/docs/proxy/)** — expose serverlets and other backends to the internet over HTTP(S), TCP, or UDP, with load balancing and request/response rules.

## How the pieces fit together

Everything you deploy on Futrou lives inside a **project**, and every project belongs to a **workspace** (your account or team). A typical setup looks like this:

1. Create a **serverlet** from a container image.
2. Futrou automatically creates a **proxy** for it, so it's reachable at a `*.futrou.cloud` address right away.
3. Optionally, point your own domain at it — add a **DNS zone** for the domain, or connect the domain directly to a proxy once its ownership is verified.

You can also use DNS and Proxy independently of a serverlet — for example, to manage DNS for a domain hosted elsewhere, or to proxy traffic to a backend outside Futrou entirely.

## Getting started

The fastest way to get a feel for the platform is to deploy something. Head to [Serverlets](/docs/serverlet/) to create your first one, or [Domains](/docs/domains/) if you're starting from a domain you already own.

We kindly ask that you first try to find a solution to your problem in this documentation before contacting support. Thank you.
